Biografia

My name is Elena Rey, I play violin and I'm member of Orquestra de Cadaqués since 2007. I am also member of the Dalia Quartet, Trio Lorca, DaCamera and BCN216. I work as well as a freelancer in different orchestras and ensembles. I enjoy playing any kind of music, so I am involved too with a project with the singer Sílvia Pérez Cruz and other bands.

Entrevista

What does it mean for you to play with the Orquestra de Cadaqués?

To play in OdC means learning a lot every time we perform, rehearse or travel, surrounded by great musicians who I deeply respect. It means sharing the amazing experience of playing in a orchestra with friends.

What are your memories of your first concert with the OdC?

I'll never forget playing Shostakovich op. 110 in Girona with Gianandrea Noseda. I was a student at that time and there was a pedagogic project of OdC with some students from my conservatory. I remember every single detail of that production, it was a really special experience for me.

Which is your best memory of playing with the OdC?

There is a long list of good memories, but maybe playing in Kölner Philharmonie for the first time with the orchestra and Maestro Noseda. Amazing hall and amazing concert...

Do you have a favourite piece of music that you would really enjoy playing with an orchestra?

I had such a great fun playing the 'Italian Symphonie' by Mendelssohn and 'Pulcinella' by Stravinsky. I am looking forward to play it again soon! .

If you were not playing your instrument, what other instrument would you rather play?

I love the oboe... Actually I studied oboe for a while long time ago... There is nothing more beautiful than the sound of an oboe player (a good one, which I was not, so I quit playing the oboe...)

Any other piece of music you have never played with the OdC that you would love to play?

I would love to play 'Metarmorphoses' by Richard Strauss and Britten's 'Variations on a Theme of Frank Bridge'.

Why do you think people should attend the OdC concerts at Palau de la Música Catalana?

Because they will experiencie great music in a great concert hall with OdC. The sound of the orchestra is unique and I am shure the audience will enjoy!
