A few words from the artistic director

Llorenç Caballero

The Cadaqués Orchestra was founded in 1988 on the initiative of a group of young musicians from Spain and other countries in Europe who wanted to form a classical orchestra with certain clear goals: to work closely with living contemporary composers; to recover a legacy of Spanish music that has been unjustly forgotten; and to promote the careers of up-and-coming soloists, composers and conductors.

During this 2013-2014 season, the Cadaqués Orchestra continues to propose music at the hands of our principal conductors and in conjunction with internationally renowned soloists such as Daniil Trifonov, Milos Karadaglic, Martin Stadtfeld and Jonas Kaufmann.
Special mention must be made of the 11th Cadaqués Orchestra International Conducting Competition held from 14 to 19 December 2013 in Cadaqués and Barcelona, with the the first prize going to the young Swiss-French conductor Lorenzo Viotti. In addition, we will be celebrating Sir Neville Marriner’s 90th birthday in May 2014 with a tour that takes the orchestra to the Konzerthaus in Berlin and six other cities in Germany and Slovenia.
